Weather Schedule
Last week the temp hit ninety-six,
Today it’s sixty-two.
Sammy and I can’t stay comfortable,
We’re hoping for the middle of June.

And They Don’t Lie
Sammy and I share lots of things,
My desk chair, my recliner, my chips.
Looking at that I see a pattern,
Everything goes straight to our hips.

Better Left Unsaid
I was sitting there unblinking,
Rhyming shears that were a-pinking.
Then my brain began a-thinking,
How this poem was a-stinking.

Witch Pile! (on me?)
I’m headed up to the Brocken,
For a festival that can’t be knocked.
Drinking, feasting and Darcy canoodling,
Wish I could pronounce Walpurgisnacht.

What is going on these days,
Could you explain this thing to me?
Why on earth at the drive-through,
Was I offered a “Senior Drink” for free?

Soggy Sunday
Perhaps I’m not destined to be a superhero,
I’m not selfless and tend to complain.
True heroes act without a second thought,
Like being the Easter Bunny when it rains.

Winter is Over
The groundhog has returned to our backyard,
His friendship with Sammy to re-forge.
She watches him endlessly through the window,
Wants to chase him and chonk him and call his name George.

Near to What I Love
Some poems are destined to become literature,
O Captain, a host of golden daffodils, lovely as a tree.
Sammy, however, keeps my feet on the ground,
Saying my work is the tramp stamp of poetry.
