Maybe?

Standard

My kitten has a first name,

It’s S-A-M-M-Y.

My kitten has a second name,

I don’t know what it is.

Oh, I like to pet her every day,

And if you ask me, why I’ll say,

Cause Sammy likes to steal my chair,

And if I’m nice to her, maybe she won’t

Do it as much which would really help

The pain in my lower back and maybe

Help my knees which crack!

Insentience

Standard

I cannot wait,

     To crawl into my bed.

And hopefully sleep,

     The sleep of the dead.

Not sleep like a baby,

     Who whines, wets and cries.

But instead like a corpse,

     Who cannot open its eyes.

A sleep deep and dark,

     Uninterrupted by dreams.

Where hours pass in a moment,

     At least so it seems.

Beaten and bloodied by the day,

     My soul torn asunder.

Please tuck me in deep,

     Preferably six feet under.
