Back to Reality
Been feeling beat up, torn up and brought down,
Broadsided and left reeling in a ditch.
Sensing my turmoil, Sam jumps in my lap,
And asks, “Are you going to finish that sandwich?”

It’s Unfair
A close family member died this week,
It’s hard to believe that they’re gone.
And when I look outside my window,
I can plainly see, that everyone else’s life gets to go on.

Dark Day
Each falling raindrop is a dream,
A hope, a wish I once had.
They shatter into pieces,
As they strike the ground.
To be slowly washed away.

Relationships
Sammy and I are two of a kind,
Sitting together, watching the birds.
We also enjoy an afternoon snack,
Though she licks the ranch off my cheese curds.

It’s a Mystery
Disaster has befallen my sandwich,
It’s missing the cheese and the ham.
Don’t want to jump to conclusions,
But I’m looking at a kitten, named Sam.

Premonition
Feeling rather invisible lately,
Not lost, just all alone.
Perhaps today will be the day,
When I’m finally going home.

Last Words
When my time is up and I depart,
Please think of me with lenience.
At my cenotaph these words you’ll see,
“Good Luck, kids. Sorry for the inconvenience.”

It Helps Me
When life has been playing a little too rough,
And my mood should be more sanguine.
If Sammy is not hanging around,
I hug my stuffy penguin.
