I said, “That’s not right!”
She said, “It’s more than fair.”
As Sammy settles down to take,
Over half of my favorite chair.
Opened the window to let in fresh air
Thought Sammy would like it but no!
Seems she doesn’t care for sub-zero temps
Or frolicking in the ice-cold snow…
Sammy looked at me sadly,
In her eyes, a tiny tear.
“Why are you up and getting dressed?
You went to work last year!”
Walked away from a mountain of laundry,
To answer the ringing phone.
So Sammy tunneled her way in deep,
And made herself at home.
A winter storm has hit us,
Wind, snow, hail and rain.
Curled up on the couch with my kitten,
So you know that I’m feeling no pain.
Christmas morn was dawning,
Thought I heard Santa Claus.
My mind was just confusing things,
What I felt were Sammy’s claws.
Sammy sleeps with Daddy,
I think that’s very sweet.
Not sure how much she loves him,
But he gives off body heat.
Winter is upon us,
From that you cannot hide.
But I stay warm all through the night,
With a sleeping kitten by my side.
