Saturday Morning
Serenely watching the sunrise,
Ice-cold Diet Dr Pepper in my cup.
Sammy rolls over, looks at me and says,
“Man, why are you even up?”

Sammy Agrees
Some people must watch too much TV,
And it turns their brains to confetti.
In what reality would people put,
Cut up hot dogs into spaghetti?

Needed a Blanket
Sammy jumped onto my belly,
Gripping with her sharp, tiny claws.
But what really took my breath away,
Was those ice-cold little paws.

Better Than a Heating Pad
Stomping around in a foot of snow,
Did a number on my old trick knee.
So I laid down to stretch it out,
And Sammy took a nap on me.

I Found Out
Whomever wrote, “Like kittens in the snow,”
Must have thought it a fantastic bit.
So I took Sammy outside to play,
My wounds prove she did not like it.

Just Trying It On
Sammy seems a bit confused,
With a puzzled look upon her face.
You see, I laid down on the couch,
Not on my recliner so I am out of place.

Don’t Answer the Phone
I look forward to reciting my delicate rhymes,
Intimate conversations between you and me.
And now that we have a brief moment alone,
May I remind you of your car’s extended warranty?

Try Again
I love the little daffodil,
Is the first line of this verse.
Tried it as the second line,
The rhyme got evenĀ worse.
