Silent and dark, phone rings at 2 AM.
My son, so I knew it had to be bad.
My heart was sinking until I heard,
“Morning, Happy Father’s Day Dad!”

Father’s Day and birthdays,
For Dad, Mom, Brother and Sister.
And all I got in the month of June,
Was a swift, hard kick in the keister!

Cleaning up the diet, working out every day,
Seems overwhelming, like a Herculean feat.
But I have to get with it so that when I die,
Sammy has something nutritious to eat.
