New Year, Same Cat

Up Before Sammy
Truth is I’m getting older,
Full of aches and stiffness.
Yet I still leap out of bed,
Bright and early every Christmas.

Totally Gator
Stayed up watching Joe Bob Ruins Christmas,
Darcy, Ernie, the whole gang was fine.
It ran until the early AM hours.
So I slept in until nine.

I want to be like Sammy,
In each and every way.
I’ve tried, but cannot seem to sleep,
All the night and all the day.

Some folks like to burn candles,
Which is their nose’s albatross.
The scent which triggers happiness,
Is the smell of my pasta sauce.

Later That Day
Turkey, stuffing, gravy and potatoes,
Plus Sammy had three kinds of fishes.
Everything was going great until,
I had to wash all the dishes.

Over 400 dollars of groceries,
Were in that lady’s cart.
My bill was 28.50,
I’m just not doing my part.
