Rough Day
I’ve tried to be a decent person,
Working hard to show how much I care.
Yet here I stand, all naked and alone,
Guess I ain’t going nowhere.

I tried to think of happier thoughts,
True love, Christmas or ice cream cones.
They couldn’t compete with the sheer delight,
Of Sammy chomping on alligator bones.

As I was closing in, I stopped because,
Under my breath, I was humming “Volare.”

“Love whomever you desire,” the articles say,
“Open up and let your spirit run free!”
Yet I reap nothing but disgust and scorn,
Because I wanna cuddle with a manatee!

I love my kitten lots and lots.
I love her more than tater tots!
