Rough Day
I’ve tried to be a decent person,
Working hard to show how much I care.
Yet here I stand, all naked and alone,
Guess I ain’t going nowhere.

Happiness Is…
I tried to think of happier thoughts,
True love, Christmas or ice cream cones.
They couldn’t compete with the sheer delight,
Of Sammy chomping on alligator bones.

Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh!
Wearing khaki’s and pith helmet,
This beauty had me ready for safari!
As I was closing in, I stopped because,
Under my breath, I was humming “Volare.”

What happened?
People you’ve known forever can seem to change,
Hard not to in these fast-moving, trying times.

“Open up and let your spirit run free!”

Because I wanna cuddle with a manatee!

So I could make some tasty tacos.
Or maybe they would make a grand tostada,
Unless I add them to a frittata.

Sammy to the Rescue!
Hurricanes, politics, hatred and war,
Every day of our lives are filled with struggles.
And whenever I am feeling overwhelmed,
I can always depend on kitten snuggles.

The Midnight Hour
Self-doubt and depression come out at night,
The unspeakable pain which people fear.
Inside my head, I am safe and warm,
For it is very dark in here.

Morning Mantra
Lazing about on a cool, crisp morn,
Gazing at skies of azure blue.
A cool breeze stirs and disturbs my dream,
I don’t want to go to work, would you?
